Erika had struggled with fatigue and digestive issues for over a decade before finally being diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in January 2022 — by then, the tumor had grown to the size of a softball. She started conventional ACT chemo, though a part of her had already wanted a different path. When back pain returned in the summer of 2025 and she suspected the cancer was back, she knew immediately: she wasn’t doing chemo again. She made the decision to come to Immunity Therapy Center in September 2025.
Within her first two days, a CT scan with Dr. Bautista revealed lesions on her sacrum that had never been mentioned in her scans back home — lesions he described as “a ticking time bomb” for another fracture. She was admitted into ITC’s inpatient program for over five weeks, an unplanned but essential stay where she says the care was phenomenal: specialists who treated her like a person with a family and a story, not a number, including a nurse who stayed by her side through an entire difficult night. Erika arrived using a walker and left fully capable — a transformation she now calls her “celebration tour.” Her most recent PET scan showed no cancer remaining in her bones, and she and her care team are now focused on treating the small remaining lesions on her liver. “There are no guarantees,” she shares, “but on this journey that is going to be hard no matter what you choose, this is the place to come.”
