Acerca del Cáncer de Mesotelioma
El mesotelioma maligno es una forma de cáncer que afecta al mesotelio, una fina capa de tejido que cubre la mayoría de los órganos internos vitales. Más comúnmente, esta forma de cáncer se encuentra en la pleura, que es el revestimiento de los pulmones. El mesotelioma pleural maligno comprende alrededor del 80 por ciento de los casos de mesotelioma en pacientes con cáncer. Otros tipos comunes de mesotelioma incluyen:
- Mesotelioma peritoneal – Comprende entre el 15 y el 20 por ciento de los diagnósticos de mesotelioma, el mesotelioma peritoneal es la segunda forma más común de la enfermedad. Este tipo de mesotelioma afecta el revestimiento de la cavidad abdominal.
- Mesotelioma pericárdico – El mesotelioma pericárdico da lugar a la formación de tumores en el revestimiento del corazón. Esta forma, que representa alrededor del 1% de todos los casos de mesotelioma, se diagnostica en menos de 50 personas en los Estados Unidos cada año.
- Mesotelioma testicular – Esta es la forma más rara de mesotelioma con sólo 100 casos diagnosticados. Este cáncer se desarrolla en el revestimiento de los testículos.
El mesotelioma es extremadamente raro pero extremadamente agresivo. La expectativa de vida promedio es de 12 a 21 meses después del diagnóstico.
Causas y factores de riesgo
Al igual que otras formas de cáncer, se entiende que el mesotelioma es causado por mutaciones genéticas que dan lugar a un crecimiento celular anormal y a la formación de tumores. Esto sugiere que la herencia puede jugar un papel en el desarrollo del mesotelioma.
Sin embargo, a diferencia de otras formas de cáncer, el mesotelioma tiene una causa conocida: el amianto. Este mineral natural se utiliza comúnmente en suelos, aislamiento, tejas y otros productos domésticos. Cuando el amianto se descompone, crea un polvo fino que puede ser fácilmente inhalado o ingerido. Esto hace que las fibras de amianto se asienten en los pulmones, el estómago o el corazón, causando una irritación que conduce al mesotelioma. Los mecanismos exactos todavía no se comprenden bien, pero los estudios sugieren que el mesotelioma tarda de 20 a 60 años en desarrollarse después de la exposición al amianto.
Sin embargo, no todas las personas expuestas al amianto desarrollarán mesotelioma, lo que sugiere que pueden entrar en juego otros detalles, pero sigue siendo un contribuyente importante y un factor de riesgo conocido.
Detección temprana, diagnóstico y estadificación
Los signos y síntomas del mesotelioma dependen del área afectada. Los síntomas del mesotelioma pleural a menudo incluyen:
- Tos dolorosa
- Dolor en el pecho
- Pérdida repentina de peso
- Dificultad para respirar
- Bultos en la piel del pecho
Las formas abdominales de mesotelioma pueden provocar:
- Dolor e hinchazón en el abdomen
- Náuseas
- Pérdida repentina de peso
Los síntomas del mesotelioma en el corazón pueden consistir en síntomas severos de dolor en el pecho, acumulación de líquido y arritmia. Los síntomas del mesotelioma testicular típicamente incluyen dolor e hinchazón en los testículos o una masa visible.
El diagnóstico del mesotelioma suele implicar exámenes de imágenes, incluyendo radiografías o tomografías computarizadas del pecho y el abdomen. El médico también puede realizar una biopsia para recolectar tejido de las áreas afectadas. Las biopsias pueden realizarse mediante cirugía o con una aguja.
El sistema de estadificación para el mesotelioma ayuda a categorizar la extensión de la enfermedad e identificar un plan de tratamiento apropiado. Las etapas del mesotelioma pleural van de la I a la IV. Cuanto más alta es la etapa, más el cáncer ha progresado a otras partes del cuerpo. Actualmente no se dispone de etapas formales para otros tipos de mesotelioma.

Many patients come to us after going through several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and other conventional cancer treatments. Our alternative cancer therapy programs are often more effective and have fewer side effects for our patients than those treatments.

Most treatment programs are completed in three weeks. Depending on the stage and condition of your disease, you may require a treatment program of six weeks or more.

Dr. Bautista will evaluate you once your program is complete and recommend follow-up care. Depending on your situation, this may include alternative therapies, medications, and natural supplements you can take at home, or returning to our center in three to six months for further treatment.

Dr. Bautista received formal medical training from Baja California State University in Mexico. He also holds a Masters in Nutrition from the same university. He has worked as a Director for alternative medicine hospitals. Early in his career, Dr. Bautista became interested in alternative cancer therapy and treatments and has studied alternative treatments extensively around the world.

Our alternative, natural treatment programs are completely customized and different for each person. Dr. Bautista personally evaluates each patient to design a holistic, alternative therapy program based on specific needs. He meets with every patient, every day, to monitor and evaluate his or her treatment and progress. This allows him to make immediate adjustments to treatments as needed.

We treat a wide range of patients with a variety of cancer types from stage 1 to stage 4, as well as patients with different autoimmune diseases, chronic degenerative diseases, and infectious diseases. All these factors, as well as previous treatments and medical history, impact individual success and survival rates.
Dr. Bautista will discuss your condition and chance of success during your initial consultation. Many of our patients do go into remission and see enhanced quality of life following treatment.

Dr. Bautista and our nutritionist will discuss your diet with you during your cancer treatment. Your specific dietary needs may vary, but we encourage you to eat a balanced, organic diet as much as possible.
We have an onsite chef that prepares organic, healthy meals at our center.
Costs and Travel Arrangements
A typical three-week treatment program costs $18,995USD, and includes all therapies, diagnostics, and a healthy, organic, breakfast and lunch (+2 juices/smoothies) Monday – Saturday. Room and other board, travel costs, surgeries, and blood transfusions are not included. Some very specific therapies may not be included. Depending on your stage and condition, you may need six weeks of treatment or more.

We accept major credit cards (some fees may apply), personal and cashier’s checks, wire transfers, and cash. You can also easily PAY ONLINE.
Airfare is not included in the program cost; however, transfers to and from the airport (Tijuana or San Diego) and transportation between our center and your hotel are included.
You may fly into Tijuana, Mexico or San Diego, California. Wewill make arrangements to meet and pick you up at either airport. We are only 25 minutes from the San Diego International Airport. You may also drive to the center. When you schedule your treatment, we will provide detailed driving directions.

If you are undergoing outpatient treatment, you will need to stay in a local hotel or other lodging option during your treatment. We are located near several quality hotels in Tijuana, and have arranged special rates for our patients.
