Sobre el cáncer de ojo
El cáncer de ojo se refiere a los cánceres que comienzan dentro y alrededor del ojo. Esto incluye crecimientos dentro de partes del propio globo ocular, así como pequeños tumores que se forman en los párpados y las glándulas lagrimales. El cáncer de ojo en general es un tipo de cáncer relativamente raro. Las células cancerosas que se forman en el globo ocular se denominan intraoculares. La forma más común de cáncer intraocular primario es el melanoma, un cáncer que se desarrolla en las células que crean la melanina. La mayoría de estos melanomas ocurren en áreas que no se pueden ver cuando se mira en el espejo, lo que hace que el cáncer de ojo sea difícil de detectar por sí mismo sin un examen de ojo por un médico de ojos. Otras formas de cáncer de ojo incluyen el hemangioma, el linfoma intraocular y el carcinoma de párpado.
Causas y factores de riesgo
El cáncer de ojo es causado por una mutación genética que hace que las células dentro de las estructuras del ojo crezcan y se multipliquen sin control, formando un tumor de tejido. Se desconoce la causa exacta de esta mutación genética. Puede haber un factor hereditario en el melanoma intraocular, pero es raro.
Los factores de riesgo del cáncer de ojo también varían. Las personas con un color de ojos más claro, como el azul o el verde, tienen un mayor riesgo de desarrollar un melanoma ocular. Ciertos trastornos cutáneos hereditarios, particularmente una condición que causa lunares anormales conocida como síndrome de nevus displásico, pueden contribuir a un mayor riesgo de desarrollar cáncer de ojo. Al igual que el cáncer de piel, la exposición a la luz ultravioleta puede aumentar el riesgo de padecer melanoma ocular, pero la relación exacta aún no es clara.
Detección temprana, diagnóstico y estadificación
Las personas con cáncer de ojos a menudo no muestran síntomas obvios. Debido a la falta de síntomas obvios, el cáncer de ojo es encontrado con mayor frecuencia por un oftalmólogo durante un examen de ojo regular. El síntoma más común es una pérdida de visión sin dolor. Otros signos y síntomas comunes del cáncer ocular incluyen:
- Dificultad repentina para ver
- Perdiendo parte de su campo de visión
- Pérdida de visión periférica
- Viendo destellos de luz o motas de polvo o manchas en su visión
- Una mancha oscura en tu iris
El diagnóstico del cáncer de ojo suele comenzar con un examen básico de la vista, que implica mirar el exterior del ojo e identificar cualquier vaso sanguíneo agrandado que pueda indicar tumores oculares. El oculista también puede utilizar una prueba de ultrasonido ocular junto con otras pruebas de imágenes de examen ocular para diagnosticar y determinar la gravedad del cáncer. Los oncólogos también pueden tomar una muestra de tejido ocular para hacer una biopsia, pero esto generalmente no es necesario para los cánceres de ojos.
Una vez que se ha diagnosticado al paciente, se continuará con determinar la etapa, que consiste en determinar si el cáncer se ha vuelto metastásico y si está afectando a otras partes del cuerpo. Determinar la etapa del cáncer desempeña un papel importante en la definición de las opciones de tratamiento del cáncer de ojo. Al igual que con otros tipos de cáncer, el cáncer ocular se clasifica en etapas en una escala de 0 a 4, en la que la IV sugiere que el cáncer se ha convertido en metastásico y se ha extendido a otras áreas.

Un melanoma maligno de ojo más pequeño puede no requerir tratamiento, mientras que los crecimientos de tumores más grandes suelen tratarse con radioterapia, tratamiento con láser o cirugía para extirpar parte del ojo. Many patients come to us after going through several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and other conventional cancer treatments. Our alternative cancer therapy programs are often more effective and have fewer side effects for our patients than those treatments.

Most treatment programs are completed in three weeks. Depending on the stage and condition of your disease, you may require a treatment program of six weeks or more.

Dr. Bautista will evaluate you once your program is complete and recommend follow-up care. Depending on your situation, this may include alternative therapies, medications, and natural supplements you can take at home, or returning to our center in three to six months for further treatment.

Dr. Bautista received formal medical training from Baja California State University in Mexico. He also holds a Masters in Nutrition from the same university. He has worked as a Director for alternative medicine hospitals. Early in his career, Dr. Bautista became interested in alternative cancer therapy and treatments and has studied alternative treatments extensively around the world.

Our alternative, natural treatment programs are completely customized and different for each person. Dr. Bautista personally evaluates each patient to design a holistic, alternative therapy program based on specific needs. He meets with every patient, every day, to monitor and evaluate his or her treatment and progress. This allows him to make immediate adjustments to treatments as needed.

We treat a wide range of patients with a variety of cancer types from stage 1 to stage 4, as well as patients with different autoimmune diseases, chronic degenerative diseases, and infectious diseases. All these factors, as well as previous treatments and medical history, impact individual success and survival rates.
Dr. Bautista will discuss your condition and chance of success during your initial consultation. Many of our patients do go into remission and see enhanced quality of life following treatment.

Dr. Bautista and our nutritionist will discuss your diet with you during your cancer treatment. Your specific dietary needs may vary, but we encourage you to eat a balanced, organic diet as much as possible.
We have an onsite chef that prepares organic, healthy meals at our center.
Costs and Travel Arrangements
A typical three-week treatment program costs $18,995USD, and includes all therapies, diagnostics, and a healthy, organic, breakfast and lunch (+2 juices/smoothies) Monday – Saturday. Room and other board, travel costs, surgeries, and blood transfusions are not included. Some very specific therapies may not be included. Depending on your stage and condition, you may need six weeks of treatment or more.

We accept major credit cards (some fees may apply), personal and cashier’s checks, wire transfers, and cash. You can also easily PAY ONLINE.
Airfare is not included in the program cost; however, transfers to and from the airport (Tijuana or San Diego) and transportation between our center and your hotel are included.
You may fly into Tijuana, Mexico or San Diego, California. Wewill make arrangements to meet and pick you up at either airport. We are only 25 minutes from the San Diego International Airport. You may also drive to the center. When you schedule your treatment, we will provide detailed driving directions.

If you are undergoing outpatient treatment, you will need to stay in a local hotel or other lodging option during your treatment. We are located near several quality hotels in Tijuana, and have arranged special rates for our patients.
