Sobre el cáncer del conducto biliar
El cáncer de conducto biliar, también conocido como colangiocarcinoma, afecta a los delgados tubos que transportan la bilis desde el hígado y la vesícula biliar hasta los intestinos. Este tipo de cáncer es poco común, y suele afectar a unas 8.000 personas en los EE.UU. cada año.
El cáncer de conducto biliar se clasifica según la ubicación del tumor y el tipo de células involucradas. Los tres tipos principales de cáncer de conducto biliar son:
- Intraheptico – Esto ocurre en partes de los conductos biliares dentro del hígado y a veces se identifica como una forma de cáncer de hígado.
- Hilar o perihilar – Se refiere al cáncer de las vías biliares que se produce justo fuera del hígado.
- Distal – Este tipo de cáncer de las vías biliares se produce en la parte de las vías biliares más cercana al intestino delgado.
Causas y factores de riesgo
Igual que con los otros tipos de cáncer, el cáncer de conducto biliar está causado principalmente por una mutación genética que hace que las células crezcan de forma anormal y fuera de control. Se desconocen las causas exactas que dan lugar a esta mutación genética. Los antecedentes familiares pueden jugar un papel importante. Si sus padres o parientes cercanos tienen la enfermedad, usted puede tener un mayor riesgo de diagnóstico, pero este riesgo es bajo. La mayoría de los casos de la enfermedad en pacientes con cáncer no están vinculados con antecedentes familiares.
Algunos factores pueden aumentar el riesgo de desarrollar la enfermedad. El consumo excesivo de alcohol y fumar también están asociados con un mayor riesgo de cáncer del conducto biliar. Los problemas en el hígado y en los conductos biliares, incluyendo la inflamación, la irritación y las obstrucciones, pueden contribuir a los problemas digestivos o a las enfermedades crónicas, algunas de las cuales se consideran factores de riesgo para el cáncer de los conductos biliares. Estos incluyen:
- Las piedras de los conductos biliares
- La Colitis ulcerosa
- Colangitis esclerosante primaria
Detección temprana, diagnóstico y estadificación
Los signos y síntomas más comunes del cáncer de conducto biliar incluyen:
- Ictericia (una coloración amarillenta de la piel y los ojos)
- Las heces que son de color blanco
- Piel con picazón
- Fatiga y debilidad general
- Dolor abdominal
- Pérdida repentina de peso
Si usted o su médico sospechan que tiene cáncer de conducto biliar debido a sus síntomas, se pueden realizar una variedad de pruebas para diagnosticar su condición. Su médico puede realizar un examen de la función hepática para determinar cualquier anormalidad en su hígado, vesícula biliar o conductos biliares. Ciertos análisis de sangre también permiten a los médicos realizar pruebas para detectar marcadores de tumores comunes. Sin embargo, estos pueden no ser concluyentes ya que otros problemas de los conductos biliares pueden incrementar los niveles de estos marcadores de tumores en la sangre.
Junto con las pruebas de laboratorio, los ultrasonidos endoscópicos y laparoscópicos permiten al médico ver imágenes más detalladas de los conductos biliares. Otras pruebas de diagnóstico por imágenes incluyen una tomografía computarizada, resonancias magnéticas y colangiogramas.
La etapa también categoriza la progresión y la gravedad del cáncer. El cáncer del conducto biliar se clasifica de la etapa 0 a la 4 y se basa en el sistema TNM. «T» se refiere a un tumor localizado. «N» se refiere al cáncer que se ha extendido a los nódulos linfáticos. «M» se refiere al cáncer que ha hecho metástasis.

Many patients come to us after going through several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and other conventional cancer treatments. Our alternative cancer therapy programs are often more effective and have fewer side effects for our patients than those treatments.

Most treatment programs are completed in three weeks. Depending on the stage and condition of your disease, you may require a treatment program of six weeks or more.

Dr. Bautista will evaluate you once your program is complete and recommend follow-up care. Depending on your situation, this may include alternative therapies, medications, and natural supplements you can take at home, or returning to our center in three to six months for further treatment.

Dr. Bautista received formal medical training from Baja California State University in Mexico. He also holds a Masters in Nutrition from the same university. He has worked as a Director for alternative medicine hospitals. Early in his career, Dr. Bautista became interested in alternative cancer therapy and treatments and has studied alternative treatments extensively around the world.

Our alternative, natural treatment programs are completely customized and different for each person. Dr. Bautista personally evaluates each patient to design a holistic, alternative therapy program based on specific needs. He meets with every patient, every day, to monitor and evaluate his or her treatment and progress. This allows him to make immediate adjustments to treatments as needed.

We treat a wide range of patients with a variety of cancer types from stage 1 to stage 4, as well as patients with different autoimmune diseases, chronic degenerative diseases, and infectious diseases. All these factors, as well as previous treatments and medical history, impact individual success and survival rates.
Dr. Bautista will discuss your condition and chance of success during your initial consultation. Many of our patients do go into remission and see enhanced quality of life following treatment.

Dr. Bautista and our nutritionist will discuss your diet with you during your cancer treatment. Your specific dietary needs may vary, but we encourage you to eat a balanced, organic diet as much as possible.
We have an onsite chef that prepares organic, healthy meals at our center.
Costs and Travel Arrangements
A typical three-week treatment program costs $18,995USD, and includes all therapies, diagnostics, and a healthy, organic, breakfast and lunch (+2 juices/smoothies) Monday – Saturday. Room and other board, travel costs, surgeries, and blood transfusions are not included. Some very specific therapies may not be included. Depending on your stage and condition, you may need six weeks of treatment or more.

We accept major credit cards (some fees may apply), personal and cashier’s checks, wire transfers, and cash. You can also easily PAY ONLINE.
Airfare is not included in the program cost; however, transfers to and from the airport (Tijuana or San Diego) and transportation between our center and your hotel are included.
You may fly into Tijuana, Mexico or San Diego, California. Wewill make arrangements to meet and pick you up at either airport. We are only 25 minutes from the San Diego International Airport. You may also drive to the center. When you schedule your treatment, we will provide detailed driving directions.

If you are undergoing outpatient treatment, you will need to stay in a local hotel or other lodging option during your treatment. We are located near several quality hotels in Tijuana, and have arranged special rates for our patients.
