Parkinson’s Disease Treatment

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system. It develops gradually, often starting as a slight tremor in one hand, progressing to stiffness and slowing of movement. In the early stages of Parkinson’s disease, the face may show decreased expression, speech may become soft/slurred, and arms may cease to swing when one walks. Symptoms worsen over time.

Parkinson’s disease symptoms include:

  • Tremors or shaking (usually beginning in a limb, hand, or fingers)
  • Slowed movement
  • Rigid muscles
  • Impaired posture and balance
  • Loss of automatic movements
  • Speech changes
  • Writing changes
