Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease in which brains cells degenerate and die; severely impairing memory and other mental function. It is the most common cause of dementia, and its effects are severe enough as to interfere with day-to-day life.

At its onset Alzheimer’s disease may exhibit as increasing forgetfulness or mild confusion, over time worsening to more significant memory loss. The rate at which symptoms worsen varies by individual.
